2022: Bricksie
is really a huge surprise daughter of first
freshener Zelda. She is a brick! She is a March
kid but by late October is the largest doe in
the pen. She is a wide, correct kid and will be the first Hobe Kat daughter
to freshen. Given that Hobe's littermate sister
is Katamaran (take another look at Kat M's
udder!), we are pretty excited about this young
doe.
2023: Bricksie did not disappoint
with her first freshening. She has a wonderful
high and wide rear udder. Teat placement could
be better - they are wide, but we do expect them
to look better as she matures.
Bricksie traded
1st place at every single show with Hallie. Of
the two does, Bricksie has slightly better
general appearance and Hallie has those lovely
teats pointing straight down. Teat placement is
only 4 points on the scorecard, that is how
closely these 2 does compete. We are really
looking forward to watching these 2 lovely does
mature.
Bricksie peaked at 11.2
pounds milk/day just before the August heatwave
(107 degrees!), and is still producing over 8
pounds in mid September.
2024: Bricksie had both a
good year and not-so-good year as a 2-year-old
in 2024. She developed a stubborn case of
mastitis and was treated and dried off early,
thus her show season ended abruptly. On the good
side, Bricksie was awarded "Elite" status
by ADGA
Bricksie's daughter, Black
Jade (X Quincy) went Reserve Grand Jr. Doe X 2
at the Flatwater show. In addition, her 2023 Lap
AI to Lucky*Star's HD Lugosi gave an exciting
new Jr. herdsire, Platte Valley Luigi. We
repeated this breeding for 2025 kids hoping to
see some more of what this buck has to offer. |
