Kat is a
highly anticipated daughter of Contessa. Her
registration was held up while we did DNA
testing to determine her sire, thus she was not
shown as a Jr. Kid.
Kat
freshened with a beautiful udder (notice E in
mammary on LA), 87 overall as a first freshener
which does not disappoint us at all! Kat is
definitely a favorite, if a slower maturing doe.
Kat and
Kismet were the 2 does still milking for us in
late November 2019, and we were very happy with
Kat's production as a first freshener. Kat is
easy to milk, has nicely placed teats and good
production.
In 2020,
Kat is slowly maturing into a very nice doe. We
planned on keeping her buck from last year's
breeding to Rockin-CB KR Hoku,
Meadowlark Hoku
Mahalu, as one of our Junior Herdsires, however
at the last minute he went up to Pam Kroll's
herd in Sioux City to fill in for her injured
Senior Herdsire.
In 2021, Kat gave us another
nice Jr. Herdsire by +*B SG Rockin-CB KR Hoku,
Meadowark Hobe Kat, who is breeding our best
young does this year.
Kat finally got her first
championship leg this year at the Flatwater
Classic LaMancha Specialty show! She was
laparascopically AI bred to Nelpoby T-Rex, a
buck we used a few years ago whose kids are
large and who produces does with extremely
smooth fore udders. Kat came back in heat 22
days after that breeding and so is backup bred
to Platte Valley Jukebox Hero for March kids.
Juke's tremendous strength and his dam's power
should be a good cross for Kat who is one of our
more refined does.
In 2022, Kat picked up her
second championship leg at the Flatwater
Classic. Amazingly, she went Reserve Champion in
the other ring to her own daughter, yearling
milker Katamaran. Kat Ballou scored 90 at our LA
session this year, and continues to milk well
into late October. She was laparoscopically
AI'd to Rockin-CB KWY Jiangxi for February kids.
