Fortuna was a very pleasant surprise and our first doe kid out of Jr. Herd Sire Jukebox Hero. Fortuna is very stylish and it's going to be hard to wait another year to see her udder. Fortuna's dam, Karma, became our all-time herd leader in milk production in 2021, peaking at 19.9 pounds of milk.

Fortuna had a rewarding 2022 show season and is looking beautiful as a junior doe.

We were heartbroken to lose Fortuna on her first freshening. She had a retained placenta, something we had not seen here before, followed by severe milk fever. Fortuna had kidded easily with 2 buck kids and had a knockout udder...high, wide, perfect teat placement and milking well over a gallon of colostrum on her first milkout. In retrospect we will be careful in the future not to completely milk out any doe with so much milk on her first go.

We bred Fortuna's dam, Karma, back to Juke Box in 2022 hoping to get a repeat but Karma gave us buck kids. We will breed Karma back to Juke Box in 2023 and hope we can get another doe as nice as Fortuna.
