Karma
puts it in the milk pail! She topped all first
fresheners and even some aged does on her first
lactation and easily earned her milk star. She
is our first 2* milker.
Karma earned the American
LaMancha Breeder's Association Silver earring
award for 2500-2999# Milk as well as the ALBA
Copper earring award for first fresheners 2
years old or less, who produce over 2000# of
milk.
Like her dam, Kismet,
Karma has continued to improve with age, not
only with milk production but also her General
Appearance.
Karma is such a consistent
and reliable girl on the milk stand. Her udder
is smooth, milks down completely and fast, and
she is very easy to milk despite having a wide
teat placement. If ever the world falls apart
and we have to live off only one doe or starve,
Karma is the doe that stays. Like her dam,
Kismet, Karma will milk robustly year round,
does not need to get bred to keep production up,
and has never had issues with mastitis. In 2020 Karma gave us a
lovely daughter out of Kryptonite.
Karma gave us another
beautiful doe in 2021, Fortuna Major (2X
RGCH Jr. Doe) and then topped our all-time milk
production peaking at 19.9 pounds in the summer
of 2021. We were very happy and even surprised
when this doe was GCH at 2 shows this year. It's
so sweet when a highly productive doe on the
milk stand can get recognized in the show ring
as well.
Karma did develop moderate
mastitis on one side of her udder after our last
show at Nebraska State Fair where she was 2X 2nd
behind the Grand Champion. Her udder may or may
not come back so we are unsure if she can be
shown again or will have the chance to finish
and get her 3rd championship leg. She will be 6
in 2022 and has given us all we have asked from
her, primarily daughters who will hopefully
continue her legacy of high milk production.
Karma's mastitis did not
get better in 2022, even so she appraised at a
very respectable 91. She was able to get a
Reserve championship at one small show but
unfortunately her show days are over.
Karma currently has one
daughter, Hallie, in our herd. Hallie has the
number one best rear udder we have seen on a
first freshener and she traded 1st and 2nd
places with herdmate Bricksie at every single
show in 2023. We were heartbroken when we lost
Karma's daughter Fortuna Major after kidding
this year. Fortuna had a retained placenta
followed by milk fever. Fortuna also had an
udder equal to Hallie's. Karma will be bred to
Panaceas Patent Pending for March/April kids. |
