Glori
freshened with plenty of milk as a yearling
however her udder is uneven. She milks easily
and does not have mastitis. Teat placement is
improved over her dam, Grazie. Glori peaked at
10.8 pounds milk/day as a first freshening
yearling then she had a bit of an episode this
summer with what we believe was nitrate
poisoning when she ate a large amount of freshly
cut weeds. Her milk dropped to zero for about 3
days but she has come back to milking 7.7
pounds/day in late August. The original plan was
to milk her through the winter since was was
producing a phenomenal amount of milk. The plan
now is to milk her through February if she can
maintain production, then freshen her later in
April. Plans are tentative at present. We'll see
how she comes along.
She did place last at most
shows due to the uneven udder. Her general
appearance is still good but when she has to
compete with Bricksie and Hallie, she is not
going to move up the line unless and until her
udder evens out. Depending on her udder
appearance, Glori may be for sale this winter.
Glori kidded easily her first time with triplet
bucks, no intervention needed other than to
catch the kids as they dropped out. She has
excellent feet as well, very little trimming
needed throughout the summer show season.
