Contessa easily won her
first leg as a junior kid. We did not show her
as a dry yearling in order to give some other
doelings their chance at winning. Then when she
should have freshened as a 2 year old, she did
not get bred. She was a very large 2 year old
and we made the mistake of putting her with a
Jr. herd sire. Being bossy, she was having none
of that.
Thus Contessa
was a first freshener as a 3 year old but even
so it was worth the wait. In 2017, Contessa was
2X RGCH and, at the end of the season, was GCH
and BOB at the Nebraska State Fair. Our show
season ended with that win. We had high hopes in
2018 however Contessa had a very difficult
kidding, giving us a huge single doe kid, Platte
Valley Galadriel (Champion Jr. LaMancha at 2018
Nebraska State Fair).
Contessa herself did not
come back to top show condition until after the
show season was over and, in a freak accident,
we lost her beautiful daughter Galadriel.
In 2019
Contessa was back in shape and brought home her
3rd championship, finally finishing and became a
permanent champion! We are so happy for this
beautiful doe!
In 2020 Contessa gave us a
new Jr. Herdsire, *B Meadowlark River Tach, son
of the well known buck Kastdemur's Tach Lach.
After another difficult kidding (Tach was a
large single buck), we dried up Contessa early.
She has since recovered very well and we will be
trying Laparascopic AI again in the fall of
2020.
Contessa
had a rough kidding in 2021, losing 2 doe kids.
She did recover but was dried up immediately
after kidding. Contessa will be bred to Quincy
for Feb-March kids in 2022.
